Suaeda nigra
The 5 radially arranged calyx lobes are all equal in size, which is a distinction of this perennial species. Suaeda is fairly confined in this area to the open clay slopes and knolls but occasionally enters into the sagebrush steppe. This site is on the northwest slope of Brandon Butte, UL Bend Wilderness Area.
