IMG_9064 - Lolong, in all his Glory . . .

This is the magnificent Lolong, a crocodile Rosey and I were privileged to meet while in the Philippines recently (I hinted on this croc in the text to my previous photo)!!

What an amazing creature he is and it is reputed his "wife" is longer than he is. He had been terrorising the village people so they decided to catch him and this took a few attempts. He stays like this during the day time and then of a night his holding pen is filled to give him some movement, then drained again.

We took a bus to the nearest bus station, then journeyed from there in a tricycle and what a trip this was. We had to travel over 5 klms on a lovely sealed road, then we turned onto a gravel road that was good in parts and not so good in others. There were some impressive potholes but our driver was very skilled and got us there in one piece and brought us back again after our encounter with Lolong afterwards, safely. On this day, with the break in travel, we were on the road for approximately 10 hours - a long day!!!!

Still, it was worth it very much I believe and Rosey agreed. We took Rosey's grand-daughter, Angel, with us. She too enjoyed herself immensely too. I wonder what Steve Irwin would have thought of this one - probably he would have had this one for breakfast rather than the other way around LOL!!!!

Here is some further reading . . .
