Panther 6 (1977)

The Panther 6 was a convertible manufactured by the British sports car and luxury car manufacturer Panther Westwinds. However, the marque was short-lived — founded in 1972, it had collapsed by 1980.

On that note, the Panther 6 was also designed by Robert Jenkel. With only two units produced from 1977 to 1978, the Panther 6 was an extremely exclusive vehicle.

The Cadillac conventional twin-turbo V8 engine with a displacement of 8,195cc powers the Panther 6. It had a maximum power of 447 kW at 5,500 revolutions per minute (rpm) and a maximum torque of 468 lb-ft at 2,000 rpm. The engine also featured a compression ratio of 8.5:1 and a bore and spoke of 4.3 x 4.3.

That said, the Panther 6 can reach speeds of up to 322 km/h. It has an acceleration time of 4.8 seconds from 0 km/h to 100km/h. The Panther 6 also features a three-speed automatic transmission and a mid-engine rear-drive layout, with a fuel tank capacity of 136.4 liters.

The Panther 6 has a length of 4,877 mm, a width of 2,032 mm, and a height of 1,219 mm. At the same time, it also has a wheelbase of 2,667 mm and a curb weight of 1,302 kg. The two pairs of wheels at the front are Pirelli 205/40VR13 tyres. Meanwhile, the pair of wheels at the rear are Pirelli 265/50VR16 tyres.

The Panther 6 also allowed for a hard top that was easily detachable or a convertible soft top. Robert Jenkel designed this with the climate of the Middle East taken into account, allowing both people in the car to remain cool despite the hot weather. As such, this made the model's design extravagant, which stunned visitors of the 1977 London Motorshow, at the unveiling of the Panther 6.
