Target Center - George Mikan

A statue of George Mikan (1924-2005) in the lobby area of the Target Center--home to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Keep in mind that there are no LAKES in LA. The Lakers were originally from Minnesota, the land of 10,000 lakes (actually 14000).

George Mikan is an NBA legend who entered the Hall of Fame in 1959. He was such a dominant force that several rule changes were made to equal the playing field. He was a four-time NBA champion, and was influential in bringing the expansion Timberwolves to Minnesota in 1989.
