Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.

Trevor is located near the Shropshire Union Canal and its wharf lies at the northern end of the famous Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. In the 19th Century it was linked by tramways to nearby quarries, ironworks and collieries. Nowadays, boat trips are available to cross the aqueduct and there is a towpath for those who prefer to walk across.

Towering 126 feet above the River Dee, Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is the highest aqueduct in Britain and a walk along its 1007 feet long towpath is an unforgettable experience for those with a head for heights. The work of engineers Thomas Telford and William Jessop, it was completed in 1805 as part of a plan to link the River Severn at Shrewsbury with the Dee at Chester. There is a car park at the Trevor end of the aqueduct, whilst canal boat trips across the aqueduct can be taken from Llangollen Wharf.
