Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys, Lakeview Park Barn Dance, Eunice, Feb. 11, 2013

by cajunzydecophotos

It's become a tradition: Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys on Mardi Gras eve, AKA Lundi Gras, at the Lakeview Park Barn Dance, 3 miles north of Eunice. It's the culmination of events at Lakeview that include other barn dances on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, a boucherie on Monday, and additional activities leading up to Mardi Gras.

The day before, Steve Riley and the rest of the Band Courtbouillon (Wayne Toups and Wilson Savoy backed by Eric Frey on bass) won the Grammy Award for the Best Regional Roots Album. Wayne Toups accepted the award in Los Angeles. The CD was released by Valcour Records.

Included in this set are a bunch of photos of the crowd, taken 9:15 to 10:15, with my camera held overhead and the flash bouncing off the high barn ceiling—a lot of people from all over the place having a lot of fun.
