Labuanbajo at Dusk
4 photos today...Labuanbajo, a fishing port at the western tip of Flores island is one of the fastest growing places in Indonesia. Photos taken from the (highly recommended) Bayview Gardens Hotel. Gateway to the Komodo archipelago, tourism is booming and people from all over Flores are moving there to find jobs. The waterfront was under renovation when I visited, and there was a huge new airport terminal under construction (though it seemed the work had stopped on the building). The old airport is the usual chaotic indonesian mess with inadequate seating and non functioning air-con, but at least unlike Bali, they only deal with one small aircraft flight per hour, yet they still manage to fuck up every step of the procedure from check in to boarding.
