Nathan Rice, "Omar Shariff" Teamed Together in a Fours Game
Nathan is nicknamed Lurch and Stretch. He is not as tall as I was expecting.
The Australian Lawn Bowling team was in Cairns this week for three days and playing at our bowling green. It was great getting to know them.
From this training camp here later on they will choose 6 men and 6 women to play for Australia in the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India in July August. The current squad consists of 12 men and 12 women and 9 coaches.
Our bowling green was chosen because we have recently installed the latest synthetic bowling surface which will be exactly the same as what Delhi will have. The whole squad wanted to get used to the heat and feel of the green. However the weather was overcast and raining for some of the time.
It was great to go and watch these people play and to chat away to them. Australians who watch the program Jack High will recognise the faces and names.
