Grinding Mortar- California, Riverside County, Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians Reservation, Santa Rosa and San Jacinto National Monument, Andreas Canyon

(Text from intrepreative sign at the site) "The indian women of this area used the grinding mortat for pulverizing mesquite beans, acrons, wild oats etc. A long slim rock was used to do the pounding and grinding. This rock is named pestle in English and paw-wau in Indian. The stone mortar is called kwau-la-waul in Indian"

I placed an object, car keys- on the bedrock to provide the viewer with an indicator of the size of the hole.
