Hyderabad House - New Delhi - 1928
Curzon Rd, New Delhi.
This domed palace was designed by Edwin Lutyens in collaboration with Abdulla Peermahomed as the Delhi residence for the Nizam of Hyderabad. The architectural style mixes Mughal elements with European. It was part of the plan for the new capital at New Delhi for palaces of the major Indian maharajas to be built to accommodate those attending the Chamber of Princes; an institution established in 1920 by royal proclamation to provide a forum in which the rulers of the Indian princely states could voice their needs and aspirations to the government of British India.
It is now used by the Government of India to host receptions for foreign dignitaries.
