Cabin on Jenny Lake, Grand Teton NP 2011

This cabin on Jenny Lake, at the base of the Teton, was originally used by Kenneth Reimer who took over the boat concession on the lake in 1935 (the boating goes back to 1920). He was also caretaker for the area. It must have been a beautiful place to live, but very isolated in the winter.

Now it is a book store. I sat outside when there were few tourist around and got a sense of what it might have been like to live there. And I didn't want to leave.

Jenny Lake is named after a Shoshone Indian woman who married an English mountain man, Richard "Beaver Dick" Leigh.
