fiesta apple tree in blossom

Along my garden wall i have four apple trees. The one at the end is a crab apple tree which was rescued from B&Q as it was reduced and tucked away in a corner .

Crab apple trees are good pollinators of cultivated apple trees.

My fiesta apple tree yields a good crop of apples every year which are crisp and sweet..

I also have a Blenhiem orange which I use as a cooking apple and after many years it it is now producing a crop.

Only a few cultivated apple trees are self fertile so you need at least two varieties which blossom at the same time to ensure you get a crop. Sometimes you need three varieties of apple tree if one of them is like a bramley which does not pollinate other trees.
