Rain Shower over the Wallowas

My partner and I took a trip out to see Hells Canyon last weekend. It was a stunning place to witness, with steep and rugged canyon walls stretching up toward the more mountainous landscape above.

We weren't expecting that to be upstaged by the Wallowa Mountains as we drove back. That day a halo of rain storms was gathered all around the Elkhorn and Wallowa ranges, causing these dramatic curtains of showers to drift over them in a dramatic fashion. Even after living in Oregon for almost my entire life, I didn't expect this corner of a the state (in the middle of a desert in all directions) to be so lush and green where the mountains churned rain down out of the sky. Truly breathtaking.
