6_1 Desfiladero de los Beyos (Picos de Europa)
For almost 400 years, the existence of a peonil path that crossed this rugged gorge has been known. In the year 1665, Pedro Díaz de Oseja, Archdeacon of Villaviciosa in the Church of Oviedo, dedicated part of his fortune to remake this road, which the residents of the current municipality of Oseja de Sajambre took care of, in various stages that extended throughout the second half of the 17th century and the first third of the 18th century.
In 1708, the works were in need of the reconstruction of one of the wooden bridges that the path had and which, according to a description from 1829, were very high beams crossed from one side to the other. El Camino del Beyo , which is how it appears named in ancient documents, was traveled by men and cattle until the construction of the road from Sahagún to Las Arriondas at the end of the 19th century.
