Towards Madeira
Golden light over Madeira captured from the tip of Ponta de Sao Lourenço, the easternmost peninsula of this Portuguese island, crouching on a spring evening atop a cliff where the gentle Atlantic waves come to break. The humid air smells of ocean. The setting sun's rays pierce through the volcanic mountains and clouds gathered in the south of the island, creating a striking natural spectacle. A few small circular plants manage to grow between the rocks – but wild grass is generally the only vegetation on these heights constantly battered by oceanic winds.
