The house where Dick Winters grew up as a child
This is the house on East Fulton St. in Ephrata PA where Dick Winters spent a large part of his childhood. His father, also named Richard Winters, moved the family here from Lancaster when Dick was three years old (in 1921). He lived here with his paternal grandmother. At the time, this was the edge of the borough, and in an area that is now homes and some woods, he played in a small stream nearby. This house is also near Railroad avenue, which was a bustling line and there was a stockyard nearby where he used to watch both the livestock and the trains. You all know Major Winters from his heroics leading Easy Company then the whole 2nd Battalion
Appropriately it's next to a school. He strikes me as a teacher of menYou all know Major Winters from his heroics leading Easy Company then the whole 2nd Battalion
To all fans, my book, "From Toccoa to the Eagle's Nest: Discoveries in the Boosteps of the Band of Brothers" is now available on Amazon, Booksurge and Alibris Thanks Dalton
