Deathwatch Camp on Carlac | The Clone Wars

Hey there!

It's been a little while since I've posted. As soon as the quarantine started, I lost pretty much all inspiration for building. But eventually I found some, and built this.

For the most part, I don't love Mandalorians the way most people do. The Mandalorian show killed what little excitement I had for the race. But Deathwatch is an exception. I freaking love Deathwatch. Pre Visla, Bo Katan, Maul's involvement in season 5, what isn't there to love about Deathwatch? But instead of building Maul vs Visla, or any other epic scene that Deathwatch is involved in, I built Carlac. From quite possibly one of the most infamous episodes, especially for Ahsoka fans. I have nothing against Lux Bontari, but apparently a ton of people do. Anyway, that's beside the point. I really like how Carlac looks in the show. The cherry blossom trees, and the snow. It was new, and different for Star Wars.

I'll admit, I took some creative liberties. Mainly, the tree. In the episode A Friend In Need, (Carlac's only appearance) there is a wall surrounding the Deathwatch camp, and there aren't any trees on the inside of the wall. But I really needed that pink to pop with the greys and whites in this MOC, so we're just gonna pretend that one tree snuck passed the wall.

Because of my past dislike for Star Wars, I didn't get many Clone Wars sets, and thus, I didn't own any Mandalorians. I made a Bricklink order recently and pieced together some Deathwatch soldiers with helmets I found in a bulk box of LEGO a year ago. I made a budget version of Pre Visla, but he didn't end up in this MOC.

Gosh, that tent. It went from being made of cloth, to being brickbuilt, and then back to cloth. I like it enough. It could be better, but for something I've never tried before, I think it works. I am thrilled with the tree, however. I spent a good chunk of time getting the shape to look right. I think it was worth it.

Man, that was long. Thanks for looking! God bless you all, especially right now.
