The Makers 12/05/18

Today Killenbike (Sean Killen) and Tempest Bicycles (Rob Benson) launched a new collaborative bike label, Chimera Frame Works at the Killenbike workshop in Newtown.

With intentions to make a steady stream of truly handbuilt steel bicycle frames, the first Chimera prototype road frame was debut today. Featuring fillet brazed Columbus Minimax tubing, wishbone seatstay finishing, a modern T47 bottom bracket shell, internal cable routing and a heap of other clever design cues, this is the face of contemporary framebuilding.

The Makers event also featured the handbuilt creations of other Australian and international craftspeople: Rogers Bespoke

Egress Bikes

Skunkworks Bikes

Vale Bikes

Stoemper

SevenBikes Enterprises

Intergalactic Bikes

The Lost Workshop

Crust Bikes

Some very impressive machines were on show, with a large turnout coming to Sean's workshop located in a cosy corner of Newtown despite the chilly Autumn weather.

It's definitely very inspiring to see first hand the art of framebuilding being continued - it makes us excited and motivated to complete and share our upcoming projects with you all. Well done Sean and Rob for putting on a great event, and good luck with Chimera.
