Blessed Patrick Kavanagh and Robert Meyler

Two Irish lay men and sailors from Wexford town who helped Catholic priests and religious evade persecution by hiding them on their ship and allowing them to flee Ireland. They were discovered/betrayed and brought to trial. The men were imprisoned, tortured and finally hanged, drawn and quartered in 1581 AD for their Catholic faith. They were beatified by St. John Paul II as martyrs.

They are just 2 of the 17 Blessed Irish Martyrs whose feast day is June 20th

Patrick and Robert are considered patron saints of sailors and of Wexford
