Another slant on "The Falls of Glomach," 113 metres, 371 feet.

Commentary.

The Falls of Glomach are not easy to access, but well worth the effort.

One can approach from Loch Long, near Dornie, via Glen Elchaig.

Starting from Strath Croe near Loch Duich the track runs north, east and north again, via Dorudsduain Wood.

Either way the return route involves a 16-18-mile trek, climbing to over a thousand feet or 350 metres.

Near the Falls the path becomes precipitous, on the side of a deep, narrow ravine.

The gorge is so narrow and deep that it is nigh on impossible to get a full picture of the entire 113 metre or 371-foot drop.

Its split, braided “White Horse-Tail” form is spectacular in full-flow.

In this shot, after a period of relative drought, it is only about half of its maximum volume.

Such is the force of the fall of water that Glomach can be heard, long before it can be seen.
