1911 Curtiss Model D

Also, commonly known as the "Curtiss Pusher" was an early United States pusher aircraft with the engine and propeller behind the pilot's seat. It was also among the very first aircraft in the world to be built in any quantity.

 

It was also the aircraft type that made the very first takeoff from a ship (USS Birmingham) and the aircraft type to make the first landing on a ship (USS Pennsylvania).

 

It had a maximum speed of 50mph with an endurance of two and a half hours.
