The Royal Mint pub stood at 200 Icknield street, taking its name from the Royal Mint itself which is on the opposite side of the road. Photo: c.1960- 1965. The parked Ford Thames van could even belong to Martins!
2) The Warstone pub 168 Icknield Street, corner of Camden Street.
Great Western Inn (1970) 241 Icknield Street, close to Hockley railway station. The demolished remains to its right is where Grant & Mills used to stand, and the rubble on the right down the side road (Park Road), was the rear entrance to the works.

240 Icknield Street. The Commercial Inn. Corner of Pitsford Street.Grandpa Reg was born at 244 Icknield Street, and set up Grant and Mills (with Donald "Laddie" Grant) at the same address in 1931 as a plating company.
Icknield Street Railway bridge (Hockley station). The Commercial Inn on the corner, has been replaced by a workshop. (The A35 about to leave the tunnel dates photo to 1956 at the earliest!)
