WAGR “V 1213” based at the Pemberton Railway Station.

 

“The ultimate in British Steam Design”

The “V” Class 19A 2-8-2 ‘Mikado’ type designed to haul heavy coal trains (1300 tons) from the Collie Mines to Perth and Fremantle. They also operated heavy freight services over the York-Albany & Perth-Bunbury lines.

All were retired following dieselization in 1971. “V” 1213 was the last WAGR steam locomotive to be saved from the scrapyard in April 1981.

Pemberton trams operate return services through karri, marri and jarrah forests, across trestle bridged rivers and streams.

 

The trams are operated by The Pemberton Tramway Co based at the old Pemberton railway station.

 

Tourist return trips on the Pemberton tramway include from the Pemberton Railway station to Warren River Bridge via the Cascades.
