Event Celebrating the History of Innovation at U of T

One hundred years ago, Dr. John Gerald FitzGerald combined his passion for medicine, his scientific knowledge and the resources of the University of Toronto to manufacture and widely distribute vaccines to fight diphtheria, polio, and produce insulin. Today, U of T is translating research into the next medical advance, successful start-up or game-changing technology to support the health and well-being of people globally.

The year 2017 marks three significant milestones for the U of T community: The Connaught Laboratories’ 100th, the School of Hygiene’s 90th and the Department of Hospital Administration’s 70th anniversaries.

U of T’s Vice-President of Research and Innovation Vivek Goel, Dalla Lana School of Public Health Interim Dean Adalsteinn Brown, and Faculty of Medicine Dean Trevor Young hosted a discussion about the how today’s health researchers and system innovators are narrowing the gap between research and impact while keeping health-care accessible to all.
