Can a cactus kill a bat? Silly question? Well, the answer is yes. This poor bat was probably chasing a low-flying insect. The very tip of one wing got caught on a spine. The bat could not extricate himself. I could hardly believe it when I found this sight, although I have seen a bat caught in a cholla on another occasion. That time the bat was still alive and could be rescued.
