Old Capitol Building - Springfield (Sangamon County), Illinois - July 15, 2014

This was Illinois' fifth capitol built from 1837 to 1840. It was used until 1876 when the state of Illinois outgrew it. When lincoln was in the state legislature this would have been the capitol he knew. After the new capitol was built this was used as the Sangamon County Courthouse, until the 1960s when it was converted into a historical museum.
