I am currently a student in Iowa. I love film photography. Though I am not a film purist, I do believe on some level that the darkroom is where the magic happens. In order to really understand how light works in photos, I think it's important to spend time working with the paper and film. It also gives more meaning to each picture (getting a good print from film is far more satisfying than getting one from photoshop I think). That being said, I adore digital cameras. I like to capture faces, which often means staring at someone until they do something unintentional. Being able to take as many photos as I want ensures I can get something exciting without having to force it.

Right now I am working on a Toyo field camera from the 60's, a lovely "little" 4x5. I am a bit obsessed with large format currently, though I feel most comfortable (and get my best pictures) on my Holga. I adore its focus (or lack thereof) and the way it catches odd light.
