Hi there-
In late October I'm going to be visiting my folks about an hour north of Portland for a week. I know there will be a day or 2 (or 3) I will want to get out and do my own thing so I need your help.
I'm not just looking for photographic stuff, but places to eat, music to hear, local artists, any festivals, markets, antiques, the whole 9 yards. In Portland, on the coast, etc. (Assume I'll drive an hour in any direction from Portland.) I'm not really looking for the touristy stuff. More "local secret" stuff. (i lean more on the old-school rocker side than the hippie side. I'm 31 so I'm not too keen on the college hangouts/bars.)
I guess that's about it. Thanks in advance for your help!

Here are a few of my sugestions:
Food/Beer:
-"RiRa" on Commercial St., great Irish food, get the potato cakes, you will not regret it.
-"Grittys" on Fore St, awesome pub food, get the Buffalo burger (yes, it is actually made with ground Buffalo).
Bars (Old Port):
- "Amigos", chill atmosphere, good beer and many times a good band.
- "3$ Deweys" not too noisey, good beer, places to sit.
