Please comment on at least one photograph already in the pool when you post one and use the provided comment code underneath. Should your photo not be accepted to the group, please do not repost. Repeat posting may result in banning. Please read the Rules and Reasons for removal.

Group Description

As the name suggests, this group is for magnificent wildlife photographs only. Thus an image of exceptional quality which has the "wow" factor. There will be a screening process to ensure that only the best Southern African wildlife images enter the pool.

Southern Africa includes South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique, Swaziland, Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

For the purposes of this group the definition of wildlife excludes photographs taken in a zoo, of animals in captivity, or of animals in a park or reserve where they do not fend for themselves. Only images of animals in the wild, thus in their natural habitat, qualify. Please indicate the location where the photograph was shot, either in the tags or in the caption. No man-made objects, such as roads, wires etc must be visible in the photo.

The group admins and moderators have the right to remove photos that do not meet the required level of magnificence or any other criteria. Please keep in mind that photography, which is an art form, is subjective, or rather not objective, and do not feel offended if your photograph does not make it to the pool.

It would be appreciated if you would comment on images in the pool when you post an image. Please use the comment code provided underneath. (A ratio of one or more comments to one post seems fair.)

Group Rules

We receive many great photographs, but there are a few which do not make it to the pool because of various reasons. I have thus decided to state our rules in full.

• You may submit 3 images per day (previously it was 6).

• This group is for wildlife photographs only.

• Photographs of wildlife taken in Southern Africa (South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique, Swaziland, Lesotho and Zimbabwe) qualify.

• Photographs that are of exceptional quality qualify. Offer us your very best! Ask yourself if the photograph has impact or if it would evoke a “wow” response from others. Please keep in mind that photography, which is an art form, is subjective, or rather not objective, and do not feel offended if a particular photograph does not make it to the pool.

• Please do not submit photographs taken in a zoo, of animals in captivity, or of animals in a park, reserve, rehabilitation centre or any other similar environment where they do not fend for themselves. Only images of animals in the wild, thus in their natural habitat, qualify. Please indicate the location where the photograph was taken either in the tags or caption.

• Take care that the photograph does not include any man-made objects, including wires, the railings of a bridge, a road etc.

• No blood and gore and kills, please.

• Submit only one image of the same subject. Please do not post multiple photographs of the same elephant or lion.

• Please do not repost photographs. If you are found reposting photographs they will be declined and if you persist in doing so you may be banned from the group.

• The group admins and moderators have the right to remove photos that do not meet the required level of magnificence or any other criteria.

• Images will be removed from the pool from time to time to ensure only the best remain. Please do not be upset if it is one of yours.

• It would be appreciated if you would comment on images in the pool when you post an image. A ratio of one or more comments to one post seems fair.

• Invite others to post their photographs. Many talented photographers visit southern Africa’s game reserves and national parks. Take note of their posts and invite them if they are of the right type and quality for this group. An invitation, though, does not mean instant acceptance.

• Thank you for your co-operation!
