Nicholas matriculated at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge University in 1554.He was MP for Beverley 1563-1567. He was MP for Suffolk 1572-1583. He was Sheriff of Suffolk 1581-82 and Sheriff of Norfolk 1597 -1598. He was created Baronet Bacon,of Redgrave on 22 May 1611,and also knighted at Norwich by Queen Elizabeth. Dying on 22 November 1624 at Culford he was buried at Redgrave
