Back in 2011, I took a picture of Kiera and my oldest son Zakary for her 52 weeks project. I took license and posted it below. It was one of my favs, even in technically imperfect in exposure. This week, Zak came in from L.A. where he lives now and I captured this photo of the 2 of them.It reminded me of the 2011 photo. He is, and has always been "her boy". It was a good visit~they both needed it.

She is doing well and really learning to maneuver well on 3 legs. Hopefully next week I will get a full body shot of her agin, maybe with movement if it ever stops raining here in SW Florida!

Thank you all for your good wishes during a very tough time for our family. We are on the other side of the sadness

and it feels good.

Our son Zakary, featured in Kieras 34/52 week photo when he was home with us, was in a bad mountain biking accident yesterday evening in California. He is in oral/facial surgery now. We are thankful he has no head injury or spinal injury. We got a flight out tomorrow morning and will get him to the point he can drive home with us. He cannot fly, so we will drive him home to heal. its been a bad year. we cannot wait for 2017 to be over with.

Both Myles (52 weeks of 2010) and Maci, My current subject, seem less than thrilled with the fact I am leaving again. Taking a week away with Our good friends who moved away 2 years ago.LOgan and their son, his childhood friend are going with us! Zakary, my 24 year old will watch the poodles.

My sons are great with all my dogs, loving, compassionate and helpful in their care when we need them, but Kiera has always been my son Zakary's favorite. He makes no bones about it. Kiera herself knows it and lights up when he walks in the door. But living an almost 21 year olds lifestyle has put a cramp in that relationship. College, 2 part time jobs and a serious girlfriend means Zak is not home like he used to be, and I think Kiera feels it. He was "loving on her" this morning and to me, her face is saying, "Ok, but I am not going to get up, but I AM going to ignore you a bit and make you pay for your absence"

It was a nice moment, and my firstborn, who is vehemently camera shy, allowed this shot to be taken. That in itself makes it a very special moment captured.

As we pack, Maci sees a book I am taking and makes a wrong assumption......our 24 year old, Zakary, will take care of the pack for us. A great feeling of comfort is given, knowing they are with him.
