CARITOX (Caribbean Toxicology) is an independent toxicology unit in the Department of Basic Medical Sciences. CARITOX offers comprehensive testing in the areas of clinical, forensic, sports, food and environmental toxicology. Current research focuses on Cannabis spp., and on toxins and nutrients present in commonly eaten Jamaican foods.

The Masters degree programme in Forensic Entomology is a new discipline in jamaica. It is a branch of forensic science that uses insect evidence to solve crimes in legal investigations
