With the London 2012 opening ceremonies being just days away, I am going to brag a little and post this image of the commemorative postage stamp I illustrated for Canada Post. The stamp design was a team effort done by Signals Design Group and was finished over a year ago. The development team members were Kosta Tsetsekas as creative director, Mike Savage for design and myself contributing illustration.

The style reminds me of that "Amelie" girl/movie, but I could be completely wrong.

Canada 2021 - Many Historic Christian Churches fall victim to arson.
They're Burning Churches !
Canada Day July 1st 2021, The traditional proud and celebratory Canadian national holiday, aka Canada Day, has been interrupted this year by a disturbing string of violent acts and massive property destruction. Arsonists have attacked defenseless vulnerable Christian Churches causing severe damage and in many cases the burning to the ground of 100 year old historic churches and their contents that include irreplaceable documents and invaluable historic artifacts .
And the list is growing..
A prayer ,
“If this fire was deliberately set, we ask for you to forgive whoever set it, and heal them, and bring them into your family with us, so that they may learn of your love for them, the same love that you have overwhelmed us with in our lives,”
No offer as yet by the NDP Liberal Government to help rebuild the burned Christian churches nor any sincere attempt by them to apprehend and charge the perpetrator(s) ?

A new study reveals that arson attacks on Canadian churches have more than doubled since 2021, with most cases linked to public reaction over reports of unmarked graves at former residential schools-not anti-religious sentiment. Despite nearly 100 churches damaged or destroyed, fewer than 4% of arsonists have been charged, leaving communities searching for answers and healing. www.facebook.com/100069681242082/posts/978055547860478/?_rdr
Although a vast majority of residents in cities across Canada like Halifax, Montreal, Victoria and Hamilton all had wanted to simply retain, maintain and just leave local statues and artifacts alone, unfortunately, these historical items were either destroyed by vigilante mobs or else hastily torn down and then hidden away by order of the local Mayor and council without public consultation or permission ? Many other historic Statues such as Queen Elizabeth ll, Queen Victoria, and even Captain Cook were also mutilated or torn down by lawless vigilante mobs ?

Halifax Council seems to be taking advantage of the weakest and most vulnerable of all HRM citizens ? It seems that Councilors have devised a devious financial plan that could save HRM Parents a lot of money but will create a heavy financial loss for HRM Seniors ? The plan is to terminate the longtime special Senior's ticket category and then manipulate the current transit ticket price structure in a way that will, among other things, immedeately impose a 57 % raise to all current Senior's bus ticket fares ? They will then use the money gained from this scheme to pay for Kids to ride the buses all they want for free ? Parents Guardians and Granparents will save a lot of money by no longer being responsible to buy transit tickets for their Children because their fares will now be paid for by HRM Senior citizens ?
.
" I'll take a Senior's ticket Please " ? "Oh no you won't you old dinosaur. That's stone age stuff now Gramps just like that useless old statue down at Cornwallis Park. We got a new smarter generation in HRM Council now and they're gettin rid of those systemic discriminatory bargain bus rides ? The truth is that all you rich old bastards been paying less than everyone else ? And the truth is our generation is smarter now, and we're doing some long overdo systemic history cleansing ! So say good-bye to the special treatment you been getting all these years just by claiming to be old, or a veteran, or poor, or handicapped or whatever diverse lame excuse you old buggers use ? That non-inclusive Senior's ticket deal is history Gramps,, and it's time you old relics got modern and joined in reconciliation, diversity and inclusion ? And that's the truth ? "

Halifax City Hall, Halifax Nova Scotia - Following a recent private study by Council some Councilors are declaring that most Seniors who ride the public transit system are well-off ? ( one would think that 'well-off seniors' would have their own cars and wouldn't have to ride the bus) ? Anyway, based on such unusual logic and intelligence, and led by Mr. Marc Santilli, (Halifax Transit manager of technical services ), it would appear Council has devised a plan that would manipulate current metro transit ticket prices in a way that will adversely affect HRM Senior citizens and also put an end to their longstanding honorary 'Seniors' discount ticket category ?
Their plan calls for an immediate cease and desist order to be placed on the long running special Seniors' ticket category, and in addition to this to also require these same Senior citizens who have now already lost their special Seniors' ticket category to also be forced to absorb the added hardship and personal expense of paying an extra out-of-pocket one dollar more per ticket after Council raises the current Senior's ticket price from the current 1.75 up to 2.75 ? All of the resulting money raised from the targeting of elderly Senior citizens, ( the current 'student' category will not be touched ), is to then be used by the City to pay for the Council's Children, Grandchildren, and all other Children in HRM under age 12, to enjoy totally free and unlimited rides to anywhere they want in the city, at any time night or day on an already overtaxed public transit system ?
Their plan calls for an immediate cease and desist order to be placed on the long running special Seniors' ticket category, and in addition to this to also require these same Senior citizens who have now already lost their special ticket category to also absorb the added personal hardship and expense of paying an extra out-of-pocket one dollar more per ticket after Council raises the current Senior's ticket price from the current 1.75 up to 2.75 ? All of the resulting money raised from the manipulating that seems to punish elderly Senior citizens only, ( the current 'student' category will not be touched ), is to then be used by the City to pay for the Council's Children, Grandchildren, and all other Children in HRM under age 12, to enjoy totally free and unlimited rides to anywhere they want in the city, at any time night or day on an already overtaxed public transit system ?
Many local Seniors, pensioners, veterans, disabled, poverty-stricken, widowed and other sick, elderly and financially strapped elderly citizens will not be looking forward to now having to take long walks in order to reach their chosen destination, or having to choose between food, medicine or bus tickets as they are now paying for throngs of young freeloaders to overrun the crowded buses with free rides ? And to also :
1) Tax the bus system's limited resources with numerous unnecessary passenger joyrides on the buses because they're free ?
2) Over-crowd a limited availability of seating especially during rush hours ?
3) Slow down the entire transit operation due to a need for the many extra starts and stops now required to load and unload the many new freeloading youthful riders ?
4) Create an added duty and responsibility for bus drivers due to extra time now required to perform proof of passenger ID age checks ?
5) Create an added duty for the driver to update and consult his daily local lost child and run-away child news bulletins ?
6) Create an added duty for the driver who must now deal with an increase in the demand for handling driver/passenger behavior reprimands that address all of the noise, confusion and commotion being generated in the confined crowded bus interior ?
7) An increase in the already highest transit system bus Driver I Quit record in the Country ?
In closing, will this new ticket pricing scheme serve to transform a current HRM bus and ferry transit system already strained crowded and suffering from a crucial driver shortage, into some kind of mobile Children's traveling playground, or perhaps maybe a free mobile babysitting service, or maybe even an aider, abettor and enabler for HRM run-away kids ?
*** 2020 Covi update 2020 **** New trouble for HRM bus drivers - Now drivers must contend with the many added precautions, problems, responsibilities, and extra duties suddenly placed on them by the pandemic ?
**** Note *** Further analysis, study and recommendations by this Council may be forthcoming ?

Cornwallis Park Halifax Nova Scotia - A new-generation of modern thinking liberal Haligonians armed with a new historical viewpoint gathers together on the remains of Sir Edward Cornwallis to dance and celebrate victory on a cold empty slab of deteriorating concrete that had once held up the iconic and very popular Cornwallis Statue for the past 88 years, that is, up until they came along ? They've stacked the deck ? While supposedly representing democracy and speaking for all people in the city of Halifax, the duly elected HRM Council has chosen to appoint only unusually negative opinion candidates to be positioned on their official 10-member 'Statue Removal Committee' that will decide the fate of the iconic 88-year-old Cornwallis Statue. The swarming of statue haters that will now sit on the official committee is to consist of : Daniel Paul ( Mi’kmaw author who has stated he would like to personally throw the statue in Halifax harbor), Bernie Francis (a Mi’kmaw linguist), Pam Glode-Desrochers (executive director of the Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre), Jaime Battiste ( a Mi’kmaw writer), Sheila Fougere, former Halifax councillor; John Reid ( SMU Mi’kmaw history professor ), AJB (John) Johnston former Parks Canada and Mi’kmaw historian, and, Paul Friesen Anglican priest. , the duel chairpersons are to be outspoken anti statue advocate Monica MacDonald and her good friend We'koqma'q Chief Roderick Googoo of We’koqma’q First Nation ? Lurking nearby will be the Halifax City Council led by statue removal advocates Deputy Mayor Wayde Mason and Halifax Mayor Mike Savage.

More Canadians are living in common-law unions than ever before. There are almost three million Canadians in these relationships, a 19-per-cent jump since 2001. Common-law unions now account for 15.5 per cent of all families in Canada.
This means that more Canadians are now unmarried than married. But they’re not just delaying marriage. Living in common-law unions is a choice, a choice that includes having children. A growing proportion of children younger than 14 live with common-law parents. Of the 5.6 million children in that age group, 14.6 per cent live with parents in a common-law union. That’s three times as many as 20 years ago.
This trend continues to grow.
What does the unpopularity of marriage mean for federal policy-makers? From a current court challenge of the definition of marriage, to the Divorce Act and issues of alimony, child support and property rights, to health and education policy, the changing Canadian family will have profound effects on today’s decision-makers.

Approx 7 years ago, a democratic elected HRM Mayor and Council took a hastily called vote ? It was taken behind closed doors in City Hall one day at a surprise unannounced very private sudden meeting ? And then, less than 24 hours after this quick meeting of Councillors, a frantic crew of HRM outside workers armed with hand tools and cutting torches was seen rushing towards Cornwallis Park in HRM bucket trucks with a Mayor's official work order telling them to immediately and without prejudice, tare down an iconic Statue that had, up until now, been admired, enjoyed, preserved and cared for by the people of Halifax for over the last 88 years ? It was then be transported to an unknown location to be kept hidden away from public view ?

Lunenburg NS - Now even the name Queen has become inappropriate ? Due to some complaining, Lunenburg recently changed the name of Cornwallis Street to Queen Street. Queen was first choice of all those listed in a town survey taken to select a new street name. But the town received another complaint from the local anti-racism committee saying they are extremely disappointed by a democratic decision that will only replace one colonial street name (Cornwallis) with another, (Queen ) ?
