For this week's theme I thought we could focus on all the colors and decorations that you see in the fall. Fall is such a beautiful season with all the vivid oranges, reds, and browns that when you compare them against the backdrop of a graveyard it brings about a huge color explosion. You can all tell I was out snapping photo's this weekend can't you? :-)
Procedure to add photos to this thread : Go to the photo
in your photostream you'd like to include. Click on 'all
sizes' , and in this case, then choose 'small' or 'medium'. There will be some code in a box, copy it then paste it in this
discussion.(use 'reply to this topic') .
I will start us off this week with a photo from a visit I took to the Old Dewitt Cemetery (yes I actually went somewhere other than Assumption). This cemetery is located in Dewitt, NY. It is now inactive and in disrepair. Part of a huge tree limb came down and took out quite a few stones. There also has been a bit of vandalism that has went on, but there are still quite a few stones that are still standing and still readable. This is the view you get when you first walk in:

The second one is also from Dewitt Cemetery. This is SOOC and no editing involved yet ( it's been a busy month). Personally I think this one is best viewed large. I'm not even sure if I will make any changes to it. Let me know what you think by dropping me a comment.

Nice theme, Michelle!
I visited the small but pretty "Plainville Cemetery" in Plainville MA, last Saturday, knowing it would be a good place for foliage..

Leaves always look better when they're on the trees, but this pile was still holding on to it's colors last Thanksgiving. Taken at Pine Hill Cemetery, Dover, NH.

My favorite topic - I've been out taking photographs for about a month and a half - and is my favorite time of year as well. Sometimes, though, you just realize why I like it - Mother Nature blesses you with the perfect light, color, and emotion....

WW1 Soldier graves (in a forgotten, moss covered part of the cemetery)

Deerfield MA, tho not the Historic Deerfield cemetery which is primarily slates from the Colonial era. This nearby cemetery is marbles and granites. When I think of some of the fall days I've enjoyed in a cemetery, this is one of my favorites.
Imagine being 'laid by' for the winter in this old receiving tomb:

It wasn't the foliage so much as the fallen golden leaves:

And the Springfield Cemetery, the epitome of American rural cemeteries, and a great place to wander, any time of year:

Sorry I've been MIA lately, but I'm working on my last course for my MA in Am History, and will be tied up with my thesis (on the Springfield Cemetery) after that. But I'll be around, I love this group!
