Maputo: Museu Nacional de Arte
The Museu Nacional de Arte (National Museum of Art) houses various collections of paintings, sculptures, drawings and engravings of artists who have lived and worked in Mozambique stretching from the 1950s to today. While the Museum is small (two rooms), the quality of the collection makes this a worthwhile stop for even the casual lover of art. Additionally the Museum offers educational programs, guided tours, workshops and matters related to the Arts. The Museum also has a library and document archive for use by researchers and the general public. The Museum opened to the public in 1989, but the building itself was constructed for a different purpose in 1964.
