Andahuaylillas: Iglesia San Pedro Apóstol

San Pedro Apóstol was built by Jesuits starting in 1570 with the creation of a small chapel corresponding to the existing apse and sanctuary. The main nave and the façade were completed in 1606. While the exterior is very modest, the interior is almost completely covered with gorgeous frescoes. For that reason, the church also carries the nickname "Sistine Chapel of the Americas." In view is the gorgeous retable. The wooden ceiling above it is completely painted.
