An Evening on Doi Luang Chiang Dao
Happy New Year 2012! I hope all of you had a great time during New Year break.
This photo is a view of cloudy evening sunset from the top of Doi Luang Chiang Dao (elevation: 2,225 m.). From here, you can see Doi Sam Phi Nong or Three Brothers Peaks(elevation: 2,150 m.) on your left and Doi Pyramid or Pyramid Peak (elevation: 2,175 m.) on your right.
Doi Chiang Dao mountain range is a limestone mountain and the third highest mountain in Thailand. The name "Chiang Dao" means "City of Stars". Chiang Dao is located in Chiang Mai province, Thailand. Trekking up the mountain from the starting point to the base camp (Paang Vour Trail) took us only about 5 hours and a half, but most people usually do it for 6 to 8 hours. Unluckily, when we reached the top to watch the sunset, the weather is overcast, resulting in the photo you've seen above. The trek was quite steep and slippery at some point, but it is all worths it when you reached the top. For more information of trekking, please refer to: wikitravel.org/en/Chiang_Dao
More photos will be coming soon.
