The Karaweik or Royal Barge

On October 22, the western coastal region of Burma was mercilessly battered by Category 5 monster Cyclone Giri. Communication with the region was totally cut off initially and now we are receiving news that some of the villages were totally wiped out under the destructive power of Giri.

In fact Cyclone Giri was stronger than Cyclone Nargis in 2008 which claimed more than 100,000 lives. Now I’m worried that the story will be repeated this time again by Cyclone Giri.

Currently I received news that local volunteers in the region are preparing for relief effort. I heard there are some Cyclone Giri volunteer groups in Singapore. I’ll be contacting them to give some assistant to their relief effort.
