Clover at my Doorstep

Lately I am noticing that the clover at my doorstep have been sprouting tiny and dainty little purple blooms that are so pretty. Then I immediately wondered whether the leprechauns have something to do with this.

Happy St. Paddy's Day!

The "shamrock" of popular iconography is sometimes considered to be young clover. The scientific name derives from the Latin tres, "three", and folium, "leaf", so called from the characteristic form of the leaf, which has three leaflets (trifoliate); hence the popular name trefoil.
