The memory of forests

I do not know quite what it is about this shot I like so much, but there is something there. It was not even intended to actually be a stand alone image, but was taken while putting together one of my Holgaramas. Nonetheless when I went to scan them all in to assemble the final conglomeration, this one stood out. The quality of the light, the subtle trail, the lone tree, all of which stand out but at the same time blend into the natural chaos of the forest. We do not seem to get to see scenes like this too often anymore, our trips confined to beaten trails and roadside pull-outs. This may have been more akin to the experiences that Muir enjoyed.

Anyway, taken with my Holga, not so deep in the Hoh Rainforest. An amazing place I need to see again. Several times in fact.

Another shot from that day
