A storm brewing over Hill House
I caught up on scanning some of my Omniscope images yesterday. This one was taken on a trip out to Smith Rock with Aaron about a month or so ago. We stopped to photograph this house and subsequently got run off by the owner in a fashion that was neither completely rude nor pleasant. She was a bit unnerved that we had stopped on a public road to photograph this abandoned house, claiming we shouldn't take pictures because she "doesn't come to our homes, take pictures of them and slather them all over the internet". I tried to explain the images would be really interesting, but she responded that she had plenty of photos of this place. Then she threatened to write down our license plate number, so I offered her a business card instead, which she refused. I was a bit confused and let down. I can understand people being suspicious about what they do not understand, and I am sure she has had lots of troubles with vandals at this place. But at the same time she was not interested in any explanations or being helped to understand how this abandoned house could be so interesting to someone else.
It is what it is I guess. But I did manage to get this shot as we were packing up, getting ready to roll on to Smith Rock. I like it.
