Stars and Cars

Its about this time of year the Galactic core starts to re-appear in our skies. It does this at 4am just before dawn towards the east.

Saturday night I was out at Lake Ellesmere shooting some timelapse, hoping to shoot itas it beaks the horizon.

Also I was trying out the sony a7r for straight astro shooting.

It seems pretty good! This taken at about 2am. Sadly the mist set in ruining my chance for shooting the core , and messing up the timelapse somewhat too. So I packed up and got ready to head home.

Apart from the car wouldn't start! Aaah flat battery! 3am, middle of nowhere, luckily I had cell reception so I could call recovery and explain to them where I was (not exactly on their maps..) A nice guy called Rob from State came out and got me going, thanks Rob!

So here is Lake Ellesmere, reflecting a million stars, such a beautiful spot I couldnt stop looking at the mirror image of the milky way! And I got an extra hour or so to enjoy it too..
