Zakopane in the Sierras
Zakopane in the Sierras, named after the alpine village of the same name in the Carpathian Alps along the Polish/Slovak border. This is our Vorwerk, or Caretaker's Cabin, Phase 1 of a compound we are building in the Sierra Nevada Mtns of northern California, approximately one hour north of Lake Tahoe. We took our primary inspiration from architecture in the Sierras, including Vikingsholm, considered the finest rendition of Nordic architecture in North America.... from the Hearst compound at Wyntoon on the McCloud River, SugarBowl at Donner Pass, Rainbow Lodge in the Yuba Canyon, and Thunderbird Lodge on Lake Tahoe.
Architecture from "the LAND of the BLUE EYES".
