Female Ruby-throated Hummingbird.

    Newer Older

I photographed this female Ruby-throated Hummingbird in our backyard last night.
They are attracted to our Orange Trumpet Vine flowers. I have seen them all
summer, but could not get a good photograph of one. This female sat on this bare
branch, next to the vine flowers last night, and I finally managed to get some good photos.
Length of these little birds is only 2.8-3.5 inches.
These little birds are incredibly difficult to photograph and the opportunity to photograph them is very limited.
    Thanks, for looking.

It's a fantastic shot. The shade really helps make all her colours come out nicely.
