Just got back from a SICK trip to Silverton CO. For those who don't know, this place is just awesome. You're required to ski with a probe, beacon, and shovel at all times. It is entirely advanced and expert terrain. Basically a backcountry area with a little lift to help you up to the top.
People everywhere bitch and moan about how the mountain is flat,
boring, with no snow, the guides suck, people skiing are wanna-be's,
and its all hype.
I challenge anyone who agrees with the above to a good old gentlemen's duel-settle this the old fashioned way!
Sure your home mountain (CB, Mt Baker, Jackson's Hole) might have steeper runs, bigger cliffs, more snow, rainbows coming out of every crevasse-whatever. This place gets great snow, it has TONS of great terrain, especially for the price. There are definite no-fall runs, mando airs, and cliffs and cornices Shane Mcconkey would hesitate at. For the rest of us, there are just a plethora of trees and bowls for the intermediate to expert skiers. Sorry haters, its just good fun! Maybe if you come don't expect to be scared out of your mind at every turn?
If you're still a hater-gentlemen's duel. Bring it
