Ponte Vittorio Emanuele II at dusk, Dec 2009

I wanted to get some photos of the river, the bridges, and also the dome of St. Peters, at dusk ... and this was one of the results. It's a three-image handheld HDR composition, with a few other adjustments that I made during the post-processing phase...

Note: this photo was published as #454 on Flickr's "Explore" page on Dec 16, 2009, but then it was dropped.

It was also published as an undated (late Jan 2011) illustration in an"OK Italia" blog titled "Comune di Villa San Pietro."

Moving into 2011, the photo was published as one of many photos in a Jan 23, 2011 blog titled "Каменни гиганти от остров на края на света." And it was published in a Jan 18, 2011 blog titled "10 предложения за романтичен меден месец." It was also published in a May 16, 2011 blog titled "Just for Fun: 40 River Sunsets."

In December 2009, I enjoyed the longest visit to Rome since I first arrived in the spring of 1972: I spent two weeks conducting seminars, and speaking at an Enterprise 2.0 computer conference, while also finding a few quiet days for wandering around the ancient city to revisit some familiar places.

In other Flickr sets here in my archives, you'll find the photos that I took, during this visit, at the Spanish Steps, at the Piazza del Popolo, on the Ponte Sant'Angelo, and at Piazza San Pietro in front of St. Peter's Basilica.

But there were a few photos that didn't fit comfortably into any of those sets -- e.g., one or two from a drizzly-afternoon walk through the Villa Borghese; some photos of the mist rising on the Tiber River as I walked across one of the bridges enroute to my computer conference; a few photos of the starlings as they swarmed in massive black clouds above the river at sunset; and a few photos of the river, bridges, and St. Peter's at dusk.

All of those miscellaneous photos are contained in this set ... to which I'll add more entries as I discover things that don't fit elsewhere...
