Zimbabwe to Zambia _D7C19234
Following the tracks from the Zimbabwe border to Zambia at sunset.
The bridge crossing the exit gorge of the Victoria Falls joins Zambia and Zimbabwe, creating a never-ending flow of merchandise trade across the bridge in minuscule quantities. Zimbabwe is so impoverished that no-one asks you for money, they ask you for your cap, your shirt, your shoes etc instead. The enterprising ones sell you 100,000,000 Zimbabwean Dollar notes. An experience that causes you to reflect on life...
The Victoria Falls form part of the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia, not far from Botswana and Namibia's Caprivi Strip. The falls are on the Zambia side, so are best seen from the Zimbabwe side. Staying at the Victoria Falls Hotel is the only option, eventhough staying in such pristinely kept colonial grandeur in a failed state is a disturbing experience.
