You just know you're in for a treat when you see this on stage...
From The Eagles 2009 concert tour promoting their The Long Road out of Eden album.
This was my first concert photography with the D700. The last concert with the D200 was R.E.M. and I was routinely running ISO1600, to keep the shutterspeed up, and accepting the noise levels.
Now with the D700 I could easily reach for ISO6400, but rarely had to go that far. I used spot metering whilst focusing on skintones and an EV adjust of -1. These photos are uploaded as they were exposed. The only photoshop work entailed matting out of stray background and some cropping - we were close, but not that close! The sharpness of the D700 with the 70-200mm, even with the TC-20EII, easily allowed 200% cropping - credit also to the excellent focus system of the D700, especially the 3D tracking which works like magic.
