Rwanda Mountain Gorillas _DSC14529

Guhonda looks back at us as if to see if we'll follow while he and his family are on the way back into the Virunga Gorilla reserve. The little ones seem so tiny next to the silverback...

The reserve is delineated by the simple rock wall in the background, so the gorillas are free to wander in and out. The farmland that surrounds the reserve comes right up to the wall and the boundaries can clearly be seen in the satellite map. Wild gorillas wandering through your farm might not be ideal, but a portion of the revenue generated by the gorilla tracking industry also finds its way all the way back to the pockets of the farmers to ensure the gorillas are seen as a positive presence. at 'AnimalVerse'. without credit
