Santa Clara County Fire Department responded to a fire alarm in Morgan hill on Valentine's Day to discover a 20,000 square foot building with heavy smoke showing. A second alarm was struck and units from County Fire, South Santa Clara County Fire, Gilroy Fire and San Jose Fire assisted in handling a blaze complicated by the chemicals used in the facility. Chemicals used to manufactuer composite materials mixed and the results caused a major hazmat incident. About four hours after it start the incident was over.
Incident Command was established originalyl by Cal Fire Battalion 1618 and Gilroy Battalion 3 on the first alarm, with County Fire Battalion 3 and San Jose Battalion 13 joining on the second alarm. In this shot we see the County, Cal Fire and Gilroy B/C vehicles clustered together to make Incident Command.
